AB-036 Azurite Tsumeb, Namibia 7.2 x 5.5 x 2.6 cm. A respectable Azurite at a good price. This specimen has a glassy luster, excellent color and very well formed crystals. This specimen is contacted on the back and on a portion of the upper right portion but still displays well, so I have priced this accordingly to reflect this minor imperfection.
AB-035 Calcite on Sphalerite with Chalcopyrite Herja Mine, Chiuzbaia, Romania 6.3 x 6.5 x 2.4 cm. A lustrous group of well formed Sphalerite crystals crowned with a spherical Calcite & a smattering of smaller Calcites intergrown with Chalcopyrite. You have to see this in person to appreciate what a killer speiment it is.
AB-008 Rutile Graves Mountain, Lincoln County Georgia 4 x 3 x 3 cm. A very affordable rutile from a classic location. A very well formed crystal with only a little contacting on the rear and on the bottom. This crystal literally has a mirror finish. if you do some comparison shopping you will find that this specimen is a great value.
AB-030 Fluorite Denton Mine, Hardin County, Illinois 5.2 x 6.5 x 3 cm. Now that the Illinois Fluorite mines are no longer being worked, decent specimens are getting harder to come by. This specimen shows excellent color zoning, from an yellow-orange body to a purple zone and capped by a thin band of blue. I backlit this one just a little bit to better illustrate the color zoning.
AB-002 Prehnite Prospect Park Quarry, Passaic County, New Jersey 5.3 x 4 x 2 cm. A very gemmy example from this world famous mineral locality. This photograph does not convey how lustrous this specimen is. This piece was obtained by Brett from Greg Anderson who is the director of gems & minerals for the San Diego County Fair. According to Greg this piece was part of an very old stash that he acquired in the mid 1990's during his annual pilgrimage to Franklin, New Jersey. (Greg is an avid collector of Fluorescent minerals and has one of the finest Fluorescent mineral collections that I have ever seen) Specimens of this caliber from this location are seldom seen these days.
AB-056 Vanadinite on Goethite Taouz, Morocco 8 x 5 x 4.3 cm. Vanadinites from Morocco are a dime a dozen, as the saying goes. However, here is one that is definitely not your run of the mill Vanadinite specimen. Very few of these were found and this location has long sinced been mined out. The contrast between the orange-red Vanadinite and the black Goethite is very attractive. When this specimen was part of my collection (before Brett acquired it) it was almost unanimously deemed to be the best looking of all my non-gem specimens.
AB-019 Calcite with Chalcopyrite 1000
foot level, Brushy Creek Mine, 5.5 x 3.5 x 2.8 cm. A superb example from this now closed mine. The irridescent Chalcopyrite shows every color of the rainbow & provides a nice contrast to this semi-transparent well formed scalenohedron of Calcite.
