G-058 Garnet variety Grossular $85 Sandaré, Kayes Region, Mali 4.5 x 4.5 x 3.5 cm. A single brown Grossular Garnet with a green core that is fully crystallized all around, except where it had been attached to matrix on the bottom. The crystal has a great luster and has only a little bit of minor edge-wear due to alluvial stream action.
S-079 Stilbite with Mozartite inclusions $320 Jalgaon, Maharashtra, India 9.5 x 6.5 x 6 cm. In the last 3-4 years, specimens of included Stilbite, Heulandite & Apophyllite have been trickling out of India. Most abundant have been the green Celadonite included specimens and the occasional red - reddish-brown Heulandites. These butterscotch colored Stilbite specimens owe their color to inclusions of the rare mineral Mozartite. The highlight of this attractive specimen is the way in which the Stilbite crystals have grown in a curving, flower-like grouping. While not unique, out of all the included minerals from Jalgaon, India, the Mozartite included are specimens are by far the most seldom seen.
D-009 Datolite $40 Paterson, Passaic County, New Jersey 9.7 x 7 x 3.9 cm. This specimen features a cluster of very pale, green Datolite crystals on matrix, measuring up to 1.2 centimeters. This specimen has a good luster & has no damage. Datolite specimens of this quality are almost impossible to find these days as this classic locality has been closed for many years now.
AG-009 Realgar $160 Shaft 5, Level 280, Baia Sprie, Romania 4.9 x 3.2 x 2.8 cm. This outstanding Realgar specimen is from the recent find in late 2005. This stunning find produced a limited amount of specimens and are considered to be among the best ever found at this classic locality.
AG-010 Realgar $215 Shaft 5, Level 280, Baia Sprie, Romania 5 x 3.4 x 2.1 cm. This outstanding Realgar specimen is from the recent find in late 2005. This stunning find produced a limited amount of specimens and are considered to be among the best ever found at this classic locality.
AG-011 Realgar $185 Shaft 5, Level 280, Baia Sprie, Romania 4.7 x 3.4 x 3 cm. This outstanding Realgar specimen is from the recent find in late 2005. This stunning find produced a limited amount of specimens and are considered to be among the best ever found at this classic locality.
C-121 Calcite $75 Campomorto
Quarry, Montalto di Castro specimen
size = 6 x 4.5 x 5.9 cm. This attractive specimen features a sphere of egg-yolk-like Calcite in a depression in a tephritic matrix. The Calcite on this specimen is a little larger than is usually found at this location. Considering how hard the matrix is, it's a wonder that any decent matrix specimens are recovered from here.
M-008 Molybdenite on Quartz $95 Kingsgate, Gough County, New South Wales, Australia Specimen
size = 9 x 5 x 5 cm. A Molybdenite crystal with a mirror-like luster, perched on a matrix of Quartz. As is common with this mineral species, the Molybdenite crystal is slightly deformed, yet still retains it's hexagonal crystal shape.
C-052 Barite on Calcite $60 La Moscona Mine, Asturias, Spain 11 x 6 x 6 cm. An attractive Matrix specimen of Calcite crystals featuring a large Calcite crystal and may smaller Calcite crystals covered with Barite crystals to 1 centimeter that looks far better in person than it does in this photograph.
A-044 Adamite $70 Ojuela Mine, Mapimí, Durango, Mexico 7 x 5 x 2 cm. This Adamite specimen features numerous crystals cascading down its matrix somewhat like a waterfall. The Ojuela Mine has long been renowned for the Adamite specimens that it has produced, and this lustrous specimen is no exception to the rule. Unlike most Adamite specimens, this one has a lesser degree of fluorescence, which is most unusual for this mineral species.
F-139 Fluorite $35 Tongbai, Nanyang Prefecture, Henan Province, China 7 x 5 x 1.5 cm. A gemmy mound of bi-colored, interpenetrating Fluorite crystals. This specimen has 2 layers, the first being purple in color and the second being golden yellow, which renders the specimen a dark yellow with hints of purple. Another feature of this specimen is that it has a creamy-yellow fluorescence in its yellow layer, while the purple layer below exhibits a pale orange fluorescence in parts of the purple layer. These gorgeous and unusual Fluorite specimens caused quite a sensation in 2007 when they first appeared and compared to the myriad of Fluorites that are available from China, there are very few of these to go around and they are much sought-after by collectors.
C-036 Chalcopyrite $25 Sweetwater
Mine, Ellington, Viburnum Trend District 6.2 x 3.5 x 2.5 cm. A really cool iridescent specimen of Chalcopyrite crystals. There were a lot of these floating around at Tucson this year but good undamaged specimens of this material were hard to come by.
H-031 Hydroxylapatite w/Rutile ps. after Ilmenite $35 David Mosiah claim, Cerro Huañaquino, Potosí Department, Bolivia 5.2 x 2 x 2.5 cm. A columnar, double-terminated specimen of the rare variety of Apatite, Hydroxylapatite. This crystal has a green core with a creamy off-white outer zone that is accented by iron oxides. This crystal hosts many tiny black pseudomorphs of Rutile after Ilmenite. A really cool feature of this crystal is that the green inner portion fluoresces a strong orange while the outer portion of the crystal fluoresces pink when illuminated by shortwave ultraviolet light.
