C-118  Corundum var. Ruby with Mica  $40  SOLD

Mysore, Karnataka, India

3 x 2.5 x 1.5 cm.

One of the things that I found in Tucson this year that I have not seen in abundance for some time are these amazingly rich colored crystals of Ruby.  The green mineral associated with these crystals is Mica, which the locals call Mavinite, which makes a nice contrast of colors.  Where the faces of the crystals appear to be irregular, they are actually growth hillocks.

P-054  Pyromorphite  $175

Daoping Mine, Guilin Prefecture
Guangxi Province, China

2.4 x 2.4 x 1.5 cm.

Another blast from the past that I was pleased to see making a reappearance at Tucson this year were many specimens of Pyromorphite.  The amazing thing, though, was that amongst the multitude of Pyromorphite to be found from this all-but-defunct location were a small number of extremely large (for the species) single crystals.  Good Pyromorphites from this location have always been eagerly sought out by collectors.

C-122  Cuprite var. Chalcotrichite on Copper  $30

Ray Mine, Mineral Creek District, Pinal County, Arizona

3.5 x 6 x 2.5 cm.

A dramatic matrix specimen of Copper accented by acicular sprays of the variety of Cuprite, Chalcotrichite from a classic US mineral locality.  A great $30 mineral specimen, if you ask me.

C-103  Chalcocite  $150

Flambeau Mine, Ladysmith, Rusk County, Wisconsin

3 x 2.7 x 1.8 cm.

While the production was short lived, these iridescent Chalcocite crystals from the Flambeau mine were regarded as some of the best examples of this Copper Sulfide mineral ever found in North America.  Most of these were recovered in the mid 1990's. These Chalcocite specimens are highly desirable and most were eagerly bought up by mineral collectors. Well crystallized examples of Chalcocite are rarely found, especially in crystals of this size.  The Flambeau mine ceased production in 1997 and the site has been totally restored.  This specimen features a huge (for its species) 3 x 1.5 centimeter crystal.

Z-001  Zircon  $150

Mogok, Sagaing District, Mandalay Division, Myanmar

4 x 2 x 2.2 cm.

An extremely lustrous stack of twinned Zircon crystals is one of the better examples that I have seen from this famous location.  Many examples of Zircon from this location are water-worn, but this specimen has sharp, well-defined crystallization. In addition to its attractive appearance under natural light, this mineral specimen fluoresces an intensely bright yellow when illuminated by SWUV light.

C-101  Celestine  $55

Burnet, Burnet County, Texas

2.8 x 2 x 3.4 cm.

A deep blue colored crystal of Celestine from central Texas.  These magnificent examples of Celestine have not been found at this location in almost 25 years.  These Celestine crystals were collected in the early 1980's by William Lawrence.

W-009  Wavellite  $40

Mauldin Mountain, Montgomery County, AR

4 x 4 x 2.9 cm.

The central area of Arkansas has long been known for its spectacular specimens of the mineral Wavellite, and this specimen illustrates this very well.  This very lustrous, two-toned specimen features spheres of Wavellite to 1 cm. on a vuggy matrix of partially altered Novaculite.  Good, aesthetic specimens of Wavellite from Arkansas are extremely hard to come by these days.

P-048  Pyromorphite  $40

Society Girl Mine, Moyie
British Columbia, Canada

2 x 1.1 x 1.3 cm.

This Pyromorphite is a rare locality piece from our neighbors to the north.  Only a few Canadian locations have ever produced any Pyromorphite crystals of note, the Society Girl Mine being the most famous.  This well formed compound crystal is an excellent example from a country not known for its Pyromorphite specimens.

P-046  Pyromorphite  $35

Leadpoint, Northport District
Stevens County, Washington

1.7 x 1.1 x 1.1 cm.

Here we have a real old-timer Pyromorphite specimen.  Mining at the mines on Leadpoint on Gladstone Mountain ceased production in the 1950's.  Here's your chance to obtain a good-looking and rare locality piece for your mineral collection.

C-092  Corundum variety Sapphire  $50

Ilmen Mts, Chelyabinsk Oblast', Urals Region, Russia

3 x 2.5 x 1.3 cm.

A good and well-formed hexagonal crystal of Sapphire from the Ural Mountains of Russia.  Many of the Sapphire crystals that are found at this location tend to be a grayish-blue color, however, this one has a deep blue color with only a minute amount of grayish blue on the outer periphery.
