Ponte do Piaui Mine, Itinga, Minas Gerais, Brazil

5.8 x 1 x .6 cm.

Here we present a very rare (only found in a handful of locations) phosphate mineral in a very rare mineral association.  Sometimes, but not often, you will find phosphate minerals in a pegmatite environment.  But rarely will you find them associated with Tourmaline.  This specimen features a gemmy 6.7 cm. blue-green Elbaite crystal whose top and side are blanketed with the very rare phosphate mineral, Zanazziite.  An outstanding and unusual mineral specimen for any collector of Tourmaline or pegmatite minerals.

T-197  Tourmaline variety Elbaite  $435

Himalaya Mine, Mesa Grande District, San Diego County, California

4.4 x 1.9 x 1.6 cm.

Here we present a well-formed, mostly transparent, single crystal of Tourmaline from the world-famous and prolific Himalaya Mine.  The crystal grades from a mossy green at the bottom to a brighter green about midway up with a reddish-pink “hitchhiker” crystal jutting from its side.  An unusual combination of colors from a classic Tourmaline location.

T-198  Tourmaline variety Elbaite  $600
(double terminated)

Himalaya Mine, Mesa Grande District, San Diego County, California

5 x 2.6 x 3 cm.

A classic double-terminated Elbaite exhibiting a hemimorphic form. The color-zoned portion of this Tourmaline is much clearer than it appears here.  It grades from red at the termination, to pink, then to a medium-green hue in the center, then back to pink on the bottom, with an extremely thin light-green layer on the termination. This crystal is a floater, there is no point of contact on this crystal. The depression on the front is due another Tourmaline growing across it, distorting the shape of the crystal.  This Tourmaline is complete all around and has a cat's-eye-like lustre due to the numerous vertical striations on the crystal.  Good Himalaya Mine Tourmalines like this one are scarce these days.  While sporadic work is being done at this mine, pieces such as this are not being found.  These will only get more difficult to obtain in the future.

Here we have a vibrant magenta-colorored single crystal of Rubellite Tourmaline grading to a reddish-purple on the bottom half.  The top portion of this Tourmaline is translucent and the bottom portion of this crystal, while darker, is actually clearer.  Richly colored rubellite Tourmalines such as this one are highly desired by collectors.

T-147  Tourmaline variety Elbaite  $185  Reserved

Cruzeiro Mine, São José da Safira, Minas Gerais, Brazil

3 x 1.7 x 1.4

Although small, this is one fierce-looking, gemmy Tourmaline.  They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so I'll let the pictures do the talking.

T-141  Tourmaline var. Elbaite with Albite  $45

Paprok, Kunar Province, Afghanistan

2.6 x 1 x .9 cm.

This specimen is another example of the diversity of Tourmalines that can be found at Paprok. This green Tourmaline features a lighter green zone with a light blue termination.  This Tourmaline is quite different than the typical red & green crystals that are usually found at this now classic location.

T-133  Tourmaline variety Elbaite  $145

Alto Ligonha District, Zambezia Province, Mozambique

5.5 x .8 x .7 cm.

A beautiful and lustrous specimen of the variety of Tourmaline, Elbaite.  This crystal, although slightly included in the lower portion, but is gemmy in the upper portion, is a good example of Tourmaline from this location.

T-079  Tourmaline and Lepidolite  $375
Double Terminated

Cruzeiro Mine, Santa Maria do Suaçui
Minas Gerais, Southeast Region, Brazil

9.8 x 6.2 x 5.3 cm.

What can I say about this chunky Tourmaline specimen?  It has a dark green core, a lighter green cat's-eye layer on the outside almost completely covered with a jacket of Lepidolite, and a crown of lepidolite centered on the top termination.  I'll shut up now and let the pictures do the talking.  Oh yeah, did I mention that it is also double terminated and it looks even more spectacular in person?
